At the Y, we strive to give every child and teen opportunities to test their own limits. We develop lifelong skills and foster emotional well-being in people of all ages and from all walks of life. Education has always been a very important part of this responsibility and is now more vital than ever.
This year, approximately 500 Milwaukee youth will prepare for college, develop leadership skills and set lifelong educational and career goals through Y mentoring programs.
Students involved in our Sponsor-A-Scholar program have an astonishing
high school graduation rate of nearly 99%. Of those graduates, 95% go on to post-secondary education.
We pair up kids and teens of color with positive professional role models to cultivate academic support, career exploration, college preparation and leadership development.
We enroll more than 500 students in our YMCA Young Leaders Academy (YLA) charter school – providing them with innovative curriculum and holding them to high expectations.
Our full-day, state-licensed YMCA Early Childhood Education Centers care for children from 6 weeks to 12 years old.
