The YMCA Young Leaders Academy (YLA), a Milwaukee public charter school, is committed to developing the leadership capabilities of our students through an innovative curriculum, high expectations and a character-based approach to learning.

Located in the city of Milwaukee at our Northside YMCA campus, YLA was established in 2002 and serves children, grades K4-8. Each school day, hundreds of students and teachers gather to learn and grow as thinkers and leaders. Every part of the day reinforces the behaviors and mindset that helps young people make good decisions both in the classroom and in the greater world beyond.

Our goal at the Academy is to prepare students to be creative, intuitive and analytical thinkers. The unique culture of YLA helps students reach their fullest potential and prepares them for college and beyond.

For the past 10 years, the Young Leaders Academy has positively impacted thousands of students with a progressive curriculum and college-bound culture. We are proud of the decade we have spent developing leaders and enabling academic achievement for urban youth, and look forward to many successful years to come.
